Executive MBA «GEIST & Leadership»®

The postgraduate Executive Masters «GEIST & Leadership»® (spirit and leadership) program, designed for professionals of all fields, teaches future-oriented, high-level management know-how and skills. The program is founded on traditional management theory. Up-to-date general management knowledge is imparted in concentrated form in eight modules.

These are supplemented by four focal point modules covering experiential knowledge from the domains of psychology, ethics and traditional Asian wisdom. They support participants in their efforts to better perceive and realize their skills, potential and targets on an individual, institutional and global level. In comparison with the standard «GEIST & Leadership»® course, the focal point modules of the Executive Masters program contain additional seminars.

Two of these twelve modules overall are conducted outside Switzerland – one at the renowned DePaul University in Chicago and the other at the United Nations center in New York.

Thanks to individual support and knowledge transfer to the participants’ company or organization, this compact MBA program, which participants can attend in parallel with work, ensures the success of both participants and the institutions involved. Project work forms a key component of the curriculum. All participants conduct a project within their company or organization and document it in their Master’s thesis (transfer of knowledge).

The Steinbeis Career Center (SCC) conducts the Executive MBA «GEIST & Leadership»® program in close cooperation with institutes, professors and lecturers of the following, internationally renowned universities:

The program is also supported by specialists in the fields of ethics, integral awareness, business and consulting.

Program structure

As a rule, the entire course takes two years. The maximum duration is four years.

The program is structured in an innovative way, comprising eight mutually independent basic modules and four experience-oriented modules that build on one another, based on the «Lassalle-Institut-Modell»®. This allows participants to plan the sequence of modules in a flexible, customized way. A special advantage of the modular structure is that modules missed can be attended at a later date.

The eight basic modules are each scheduled from Wednesday to Wednesday. No lectures are held on Sundays, a day reserved for personal learning and work on case studies. The module held at the US partner university lasts from Monday to Friday, and the focal point module at the UN in New York from Sunday to Friday. The three other «GEIST & Leadership»® modules each consist of two to three units of three to five days and are conducted at the Lassalle-Institut, Edlibach/Zug. These cannot be combined at random as each builds on the content and experience of the previous one.

Dates and the curriculum are fixed at the beginning of the course in order to enable participants to plan with a long-term perspective. The exams at the end of each module encourage in-depth learning help participants assess their own knowledge level. They also constitute a closure that allows participants to concentrate fully on their professional life in-between modules.

Real-life corporate projects are conducted in parallel with the theoretical course content, providing distinct added value for the company or institution involved. The documentation of this project forms the basis for the subsequent Master’s thesis, which furnishes half of the overall degree grade.
